When life’s too tough And it knocks you to the ground And getting back up Feels like the worst idea around When your heroes fall And there’s no stars left up in the sky When your guiding light Burns out without saying goodbye You get back up It’s not your turn You get back up You’ve still got time to burn Don’t waste it on the past Cause time is slipping fast Yeah, time is slipping We never forget Where we were when we heard the news Everything changed Never knew how bad it felt lose Your guiding light That voice that got you through The world feels small Smaller without you
2.
Well I’ve got a hammer and I’ve got a mind To build us a place for our good times You’ve got a nail and well, you’ve got me Let’s come together and build some history A place for all of our friends to unwind When it’s time to relax and leave the day behind Something strong built in good company A place for friends, a place for family In our new home, I think we’ll need A place for every single book we’ll ever read I’ve got some guitars and a pile of chords We’ll pass’em round to our friends when we get bored
3.
I wrote a song for you, it’s called “I’m Coming Through” About the way things get, about life and regret And all I’ve done to you, watch out, I’m coming through When I came through, I came through like a hurricane I’d lift you up, then let you down, and blow on through When you’d come to, awake from our fantasy The cold reality, set in, when I withdrew You deserved much better than a broken heart I was a selfish man, searching in the dark Feeling around in the night Like a stumbling drunk in a stranger’s house All that time you spent counting on me I’d give it back but then where would we be? We’re all put together by the pieces of our past Like a perfect puzzle of broken glass, our broken pasts What I owe you, I can’t begin to articulate I don’t dare to speculate, how much I learned from you We all take a little piece from the ones we love I hope I’ve given back enough I’m trying to be the best version of me so I can keep you smiling indefinitely I am nothing but a man, pieces of my past, and all my future plans I am nothing but a man, a puzzle of my past, with pieces in your hands I’m in your hands

That crazy old lady that lived on her own Had been a small town staple since before we were grown She once was a young girl and the boys noticed her They held the door, but nothing more, for they had already learned Their fathers had warned them about teasing that girl It wasn’t right, so be polite, she’s in her own little world Yeah ever since the accident she’s in her own little world She lived with the lights on, but no one was home She was loved by her neighbors for her comic relief They watched out for passing cars when she danced in the street She once stripped off her thrift store clothes, to be in the nude Which drew a small crowd in the store, amidst the frozen foods After that little incident they tried to send her away It was the christian thing to do, so they held hands to pray But times being tough and budgets being cut The nervous hospital was shuttered and shut She held a job at the county store bagging the goods When she left at night, she went alone, and walked through the woods She liked the peace and quiet there past the edge of the town It’s easiest to be yourself with no one around The birds sang their hearts out that glorious night It was hotter than a frying pan and the stars burst with light Getting home just to be alone, never bothered her She had everything she’d ever need, in her own little world She lived with the lights on, but no one was home She was loved by her neighbors for her comic relief And they watched out for cars while she waltzed in the street She lived with the lights on, but no one was home

Looking Back 04:33
When we were younger, I thought I knew it all That reckless hunger, I marvel at the the gaul The guts to just get up and do it You’d have to be nuts to live through it And not just say screw it Take a look back through the years At our triumphs and our tears The highest highs and the lowest lows I’m ready now to let them go You took the high road, looking down your nose at me You took a clean road, didn’t wanna get dirty with me Looking back now is it better? Cast a glance over your shoulder Now that you’re older Like a roadside car crash, we all look back to see, what we can see But our lives are just a footnote, in a story too long to read, too long to read And there’s no sense in pretending, that anything’s guaranteed It must be lonely, walking up so high above We know it’s lonely, we’ve all walked away from love If hindsight’s 20/20 Then why is everything so sunny? Looking back, ain’t it funny?

Arizona moon keep shining From the desert sky above You know pretty soon That big yellow moon Will light the way back To the one you love Blue shadows on the trail Little cowboy, close your eyes and dream All of the doggies are in the corral All of your work is done Just close your eyes and dream little pal Dream of someone Blue shadows on the trail Soft wind blowing through the trees above All of the other little cowboys Back in the bunkhouse now, so Close your eyes and ...dream

Here and Now 03:26
Psychedelic Sally with flowers in her hair Tripped from Coachella to the Renaissance Faire She truly believed she was queen of the land She wore little crown and sang with the band The band, yeah Lost in time and space she found a way to feel ok Lost in time and space now doesn’t that sound great? Do your fantasies require time machines? Or are you living in the here and now? Do all your fantasies require time machines? Or are you living in the here and now? Dirigible Jack and his cool mustache Ran a speakeasy and a yoga class Rode his unicycle to the Lindy Hop Never did know how to get it to stop I’ve been around the world and I’ve seen a thing or two I know we’re all in search of just how to live but do your fantasies…

Legend has it Lefty got his nickname from being a punk rock Communist Well I’m here to set the story straight, although that pretty much was the gist But if Lefty was a commie, it was only in the very best sense of the word He believed in equality and hard work, yet also that every voice should be heard A friend to Native peoples, the people of this land, he was welcomed in their homes He travelled up and down Route 66, where the buffalo used to roam Now Lefty liked to point and click and catch life through his lens He’d been to Cuba, learned to hula, then came back again We once went on a pleasure cruise that didn’t go nowhere Not being slaves to fashion we cut off all our hair If we could remember now, all that we knew then We’d give’em hell, we’d scream and yell, and not be such gentlemen Last I heard, old Lefty’s in New Mexico I’m in California with Pancho Because the desert’s too quiet and Cleveland’s too cold Pancho was a dreamer an artist if you will The creative kind with a lust for life And more ideas than a porcupine has quills With a memory like an elephant, he knew the truths behind your tales But like a true and proper gentleman, his discretion never failed Pancho and me, had been in jam or three, but we came out mostly unbruised We painted the town, galavanted around, like we had nothing in the world to lose Pancho was a Scottish man of Mexican descent He left the world a better place no matter where he went He spent some days and learned the ways of the sultans of the East He drank with kings in Austria then back to the belly of the beast I met my two amigos, my partners in crime, 20 years ago or more I had no clue this would be my trusty crew or what our wild lives would have in store We were just kids back then, but we thought we knew it all of course, living on that old Arizona ranch Full of piss and vinegar, ready to change the world, if only we’d be given the chance

All I wanna do is pick and grin If you missed the first one, we’ll do it again All I wanna do is pick and grin Pick along if you think you can my friend Me and Tony walk down to the corner shop Buy a Powerball ticket and a soda pop It’s a sunny day in the neighborhood The sky is blue and were feeling good Walking the pug, shooting the breeze Hey man, whatcha wanna do today? I gotta guitar, I wanna play I gotta a Tele, I gotta Gretsch It don’t matter just gimme the best Whoa whoa whoa I’m ready to play The moon is up and the stars are bright No sleep gonna pick all night Bluegrass in the Golden State We’ll play as long as you can tolerate But first, I need another beer, here hold my guitar She feels good my hands (nice and easy now) She gotta sexy little neck (nice and easy now) I wanna play her all day (take it easy now) I’m getting carried away, (nice and easy now)

I’m not good, at being sad, for just a minute When I get down, I stay down, for awhile It might take, all night, until I get to feeling right I’m no good, at being sad, no, no When I look, in the mirror, it’s ain’t clear Who’s there, or if I care, anyhow It might take all week, ‘till things ain’t so bleak I’m no good, at being sad, no, no It might take till June, to lose this gloom I might just take my sweet time I’m no good at being sad, and feeling so bad I’m no good at being sad, no, no This ain’t me, I tend to be, happy-go-lucky So I just don’t know, what to do, with these blues If I had, my druthers, I’d pull all the covers Over my head, until I saw, other colors I don’t want, to be, a big old bummer So I try, to just smile, all the while It’d be great, to calibrate, my head on straight Cause I’m no good at being sad, no, no

When I sleep, I sleep to dream When I dream, I dream of you My dreams are always the same kind A picture perfect place inside When I sleep, I sleep to dream When I dream, I dream of you The warm, the dark, the night, my love It's all I've got but that's enough
